GYMKHANA CELEBRATES THREE YEARS OF CULINARY EXCELLENCE IN RIYADH

Three years after arriving in the Saudi capital, the two-Michelin-starred London restaurant celebrates its continued success in Riyadh with a special anniversary dinner hosted by Global Culinary Director Chef Chet Sharma.

Gymkhana, the celebrated two-Michelin-starred London restaurant, is marking three successful years in Riyadh; a milestone that has seen the restaurant evolve from one of the capital’s most anticipated international arrivals into an established fixture of its dining landscape. The anniversary will be marked with a special, one-night-only dinner on 24 September, with Gymkhana’s Global Culinary Director, Chet Sharma, flying in from London especially for the occasion. Cooking alongside Gymkhana Riyadh’s Executive Chef Hasan Rizvi, Chet will also spend the evening engaging personally with guests throughout the restaurant and its private dining rooms.

Drawing inspiration from the elite clubs of India where members of high society eat, drink, socialise and play sport, Gymkhana first opened in London, where it quickly established itself as one of the finest Indian restaurants in the world, attracting a global fan base of discerning gourmands.

Opening at Via Riyadh in 2023, Gymkhana Riyadh represents an exciting new international outpost for the acclaimed restaurant and a significant milestone for JKS Restaurants, showcasing the concept’s philosophy of bold flavours, precisely balanced spicing, exceptional ingredients, and a modern interpretation of dishes and flavours from across India. Gymkhana Riyadh is presented in a convivial club-like aesthetic where traditional architectural motifs are elevated with an array of artwork, decorative wall hangings, and subtle taxidermy, and where a sense of warm hospitality prevails.

To commemorate its anniversary milestone, Gymkhana Riyadh will host a special celebratory dinner on 24 September, taking guests on a journey through curated highlights of the restaurant’s signature and most popular dishes. The menu has been specially designed and will be overseen by Chet Sharma, together with Chef Hasan, bringing together many of the flavours and techniques that have defined the Gymkhana experience in Riyadh. Throughout the evening, Chet will also spend time with guests across the restaurant and its private dining rooms, bringing an authentic, personal dimension to the anniversary celebration.

Guests are invited to explore a culinary experience that evokes the essence of Gymkhana’s spirit and commitment to bridging the classic and contemporary. The menu starts with Pappadum Selection with Chutneys & Raita and Aloo Tikki Chaat with Pomegranate & Sev, before moving to Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops with Walnut Chutney and Tiger Prawns Cafreal with Tomato Chutney. The celebration continues with Chicken Butter Masala, Wagyu Dum Biryani with Pomegranate Raita, Dal Maharani and Tandoor-roasted naan, before concluding with Apple & Date Kheer with Pistachio & Rose. Any specific dietary requirements will be accommodated upon request.

Over the past three years, Gymkhana Riyadh has earned a position at the forefront of Riyadh’s rapidly evolving culinary culture, with its continued appeal seeing it move beyond the excitement of a new opening to become a much-loved fixture among the city’s discerning diners. Its success has been cemented with a raft of culinary accolades, repeatedly winning ‘Best Indian’ awards from leading regional publications such as Time Out and FACT Riyadh.

More than an anniversary dinner, the occasion, led by Chet Sharma, is a celebration of Gymkhana Riyadh’s first three years in Saudi Arabia, and of the guests, team and city that have shaped its success to date.
